August 17-19, 2022
Welcome to Week 1 of Media Arts/Yearbook!
This Week's Main Objective: This week we will be focused on terminology in the world of publishing while also providing an overview of what the year will look like and what your specific interests are in.
A few fun facts:
- You will learn at least 30 real-world skills to help you be more successful in life.
- Media Arts is a team working together to create something BIG.
- National studies show that students in a publications class score better on tests and do better in college.
- You can express yourself through photography, design or writing.
- There are opportunities to earn scholarships.
Roles and Leadership - we will do an interest survey at the end of the week after we've done more course introduction
What is Media Arts? And what YOU want it to be (the brainstorm doc).
I will describe the overall "must" goals but also want to hear from you and what you'd like to see out of this class.

Yearbook Theme and Cover
It's important that we start thinking about the theme and cover of the yearbook now. Why now? It has to do with the printing process so it's also important to understand the basics of the printing process and why the cover is due before the rest of the yearbook.
So start thinking of themes and overall ideas you might have for the cover of the yearbook...

Discuss the yearbook page ladder and start coming up with what this year's page ladder could look like.
Flip through and use post-its to markup the Josten's LookBook for design, font, and theme ideas.
InDesign! Let's create our flyers for the cover competition.
